Kathmandu: The Third Red Panda Festival will be held from April 3 to 6 in Ilam with the aim of conserving the endangered Red Panda and promoting tourism.
Festival coordinator Sanam Rai said the event will focus on hiking tourism along the “Red Panda Trail.” The festival will take place in Kalpokhari of Sandakpur Rural Municipality.
The approximately 40-kilometre trail connects key tourist areas from Maipokhari to Jaubari, offering opportunities to explore rich biodiversity, including various bird species and wildlife such as red pandas.
Main attractions of the festival include the Red Panda Trail trek, jungle safari, and bird watching. Visitors can also observe 18 species of rhododendrons and experience the culture of indigenous communities.
According to the organisers, the trail offers views of more than 60 mountain ranges, including Mount Everest. The event aims to attract around 10,000 domestic and international tourists to Sandakpur.
