Tokyo Saptah Mahayagya Begins to Support Construction of Integrated Nepali House in Japan

Kathmandu: The Tokyo Saptah Mahayagya, a week-long religious ceremony aimed at raising funds for the construction of the ‘Integrated Nepali House: Multi-Cultural Centre’, has commenced in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

The event is jointly organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Japan and various Nepali diaspora organizations. The grand ritual, which began on November 8, features Pandit Dinabandhu Pokharel and Buddhist guru Tulku Sonam Garwang Rinpoche, who will narrate stories and legends from sacred scriptures throughout the week.

Subash Lamichhane, President of NRNA Japan, said the Mahayagya aims to strengthen unity, fraternity, and spiritual reflection among Nepalis living in Japan. While the primary goal is to raise funds for building the Integrated Nepali House, he emphasized that the event also seeks to foster harmony, peace, and positive values within the community.

Former NRNA Japan President Nirvana Niure shared that land has already been purchased in Chiba Prefecture for the construction of the centre, which will serve as a hub for cultural exchange and community activities.

The organizers expressed hope that the Mahayagya will play a significant role in promoting Nepali art, culture, and Eastern philosophical traditions among the Nepali diaspora in Japan.
