Tourists Urged to Take Precautions in Upper Mustang

Mustang: Tourists visiting Upper Mustang have been urged to take necessary health precautions amid increasing cases of altitude sickness among visitors.

The Lomanthang Rural Municipality issued a public notice advising tourists to remain cautious, citing the growing number of ill visitors due to extreme cold and high altitude conditions.

According to the statement issued by the Rural Municipality Chair Tashinarbu Gurung, tourists traveling to high-altitude areas, including the Nepal–China Korala border point, have been experiencing health complications. Despite limited resources, the rural municipality has provided medical assistance to affected tourists.

Patients suffering from altitude-related illnesses are being transported to the Provincial Hospital in Jomsom through a free ambulance service, the statement added.

Chair Gurung further mentioned that with the rising influx of tourists following the Dashain festival, visitors are strongly advised to adopt necessary health and safety measures to prevent altitude-related health risks.
