Kathmandu: U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Dean R. Thompson met Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel at the ministry on 25 September.
The two discussed matters of mutual interest between Nepal and the United States. Minister Kharel highlighted that the government, in line with the mandate of the Gen Z Movement, is prioritizing the upcoming national elections on March 5, 2026, along with corruption control and good governance.
Ambassador Thompson extended congratulations and best wishes to the newly appointed minister and reiterated that the United States has always supported Nepal’s peace and progress, according to the ministry.
Nepal and the United States established diplomatic relations in 1948, now marking their 77th year.
