Kathmandu: M R Elviss, Commander Field Army of the British Army, met Gurkha veterans and pensioners during his recent visit to Pokhara. The meetings were held at an Area Welfare Centre (AWC) and a residential home run by The Gurkha Welfare Trust.
There are 21 AWCs across Nepal that provide elderly Gurkha pensioners with monthly welfare pensions, free medical care, regular health check-ups, and home visits. The Gurkha Welfare Trust supports Gurkha veterans, their families, and communities, helping them live with dignity and respect.
