UK Welcomes $21.6 Million Climate Disaster Support for Nepal

Kathmandu: The British Embassy in Kathmandu has welcomed the decision by the Board of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD) to provisionally allocate US$21.6 million to Nepal following devastating floods, describing it as an important step towards the country’s recovery and reconstruction.

In a statement, the Embassy said the allocation would help support Nepal’s recovery efforts in the aftermath of the floods.

“The United Kingdom is one of the Fund’s major contributors, reflecting our commitment to supporting countries particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change,” the statement said.

The Embassy also expressed its readiness to work closely with the Government of Nepal and other development partners to help the country access the funding and build a more climate-resilient recovery.
