Kathmandu: The United Nations in Nepal has congratulated the people of Nepal on the appointment of Sushila Karki as the country’s interim Prime Minister, marking a historic moment in Nepal’s democratic transition.
In a statement issued by UN Resident Coordinator Hanaa Singer Hamdy, the UN reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of Nepal in their aspirations for peace, justice, transparency, accountability, and progress.
The message also recognized the contributions of President Ram Chandra Paudel, Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Sigdel, and Gen Z youth leaders, whose collective efforts were crucial in making the transition possible. The UN paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the movement.
Wishing Prime Minister Karki success in her new role, the UN emphasized its continued commitment to working with Nepal’s government, including through the UN Country Team, to support the nation’s path toward stability, human rights, and sustainable development.
