UN Peacekeeping Committee Adopts 2026 Report with Nepal as Lead Negotiator for NAM

Kathmandu: The United Nations Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations (C-34) has adopted its 2026 report by consensus following weeks of negotiations among UN member states.

According to the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, Nepal served as a lead negotiator for the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) group, contributing to shaping the final outcome of the report.

The report outlines key recommendations to strengthen United Nations Peacekeeping operations, including measures to ensure the safety and security of peacekeepers, uphold the primacy of politics in conflict resolution, and enhance performance and accountability.

It also highlights the importance of peacebuilding, international partnerships, and advancing the Women, Peace and Security agenda within UN peacekeeping missions.
