Kathmandu: UN Women Nepal, in partnership with Srijanalaya and the Embassy of Finland, opened the doors to ‘Like a Rising River’ at the Nepal Art Council (NAC) on April 8. An inauguration woven with music, personal stories, and powerful conversations on resistance, leadership, and change. Voices from across communities came together, setting the tone for a space that is as reflective as it is transformative.
Presented by Srijanalaya, the exhibition brings forward stories from Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Madhesh, and Bagmati, stories shaped by social norms, yet redefined every day by the courage and agency of women. Featuring works by 15 artists alongside multimedia storytelling, sound, video, and illustrated narratives, the exhibition invites you to pause, listen, and reimagine more equal futures.
The inauguration of the exhibition was attended by Radhika Aryal, Secretary of Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizen, and Bandana Rana, CEDAW Committee Member, and all artists and participants.
