Kathmandu: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed an agreement, with funding support from the Government of Norway, to expand inclusive and sustainable energy access in Karnali Province.
The initiative will complement the efforts of the Nepal Electricity Authority and ADB’s investments under the South Asia Subregional Economic Corridor (SASEC) program. It aims to improve micro-hydro grid connections, promote gender equality, strengthen last-mile connectivity, and encourage the use of energy-efficient technologies.
The project will benefit communities in Dailekh, Kalikot, and Jumla districts, supporting livelihoods, inclusion, and climate resilience in the region.
