Kathmandu: To spread awareness on World Tuberculosis (TB) day, UNDP organizes the series of engaging street dramas across all 7 provinces in Nepal, bringing vital tuberculosis awareness directly into communities that need it most.
The project was led by the TB Sub Recipients, BNMT Nepal, BWSN, JANTRA, MPDS, TB Nepal, and NATA, under UNDP’s Global Fund project, and in close coordination with provincial and local health authorities. These performances targeted high-risk clusters, including urban settlements, densely populated communities, and underserved areas.
These performances used culturally rooted storytelling, local clubs, and national artists. Public spaces transformed into platforms for breaking down complex health information into relatable, powerful narratives.
Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs), health workers, and even traditional healers also played a key role in bridging trust gaps and encouraging early referral to health facilities. Health education programs and quiz sessions on TB were also conducted in several schools, while nutrition package support was provided to the patients at various TB hostels.
Across all 7 provinces, these events drew large crowds, sparking conversations, strengthening awareness, and building community support to end TB.
