Kathmandu: Kyoko Yokosuka, UNDP Resident Representative, visited Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City. During her visit, she observed how integrated, locally led solutions are advancing Nepal’s green transition.
According to UNDP Nepal, from regenerative agriculture practices that reduce chemical use and improve soil health, to women-led enterprises in banana fiber processing, the initiatives are creating sustainable livelihoods while strengthening community resilience. Nature-based solutions—such as bamboo nurseries and pond restoration—are enhancing flood management, biodiversity, and ecosystem health.
She also visited a pilot energy-efficient public building in Ward 5, showcasing scalable approaches to climate-responsive urban infrastructure—reducing energy demand, improving thermal comfort, and lowering operational costs while contributing to long-term environmental sustainability and improved urban living conditions.
