UNESCO, ICANN, and CAN Federation Comes Together for “UA Adaptation and Hackathon Nepal 2026”

Kathmandu: UNESCO, ICANN, and CAN Federation came together for “UA Adaption and Hackathon Nepal 2026” to advance Universal Acceptance, multilingualism, and digital inclusion in Nepal. The event was held on May 16 in Kathmandu.

The event brought together young developers, students, researchers, ICT professionals, digital innovators, and representatives from government, the technical community, academia and civil society to explore practical solutions for a more inclusive and multilingual Internet.

Through awareness sessions, technical training, mentoring and a hands-on hackathon, participants worked on ideas to support UA-ready platforms, including systems that can recognize and use domain names and email addresses in Nepali language and Devanagari script.
