UNFPA Conducts Dialogue on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: UNFPA Nepal, in collaboration with Sancharika Samuha, conducts a strong dialogue on sexual and reproductive health and rights, Gender-based violence, and technology-facilitated violence in Kathmandu. The dialogue brought together lawyers, civil society organisations, human rights defenders, journalists, editors, and media personnel for a federal level national consultation.

The conversation centred on three key areas. First, participants discussed legal reforms needed to protect sexual and reproductive health and rights. Second, they explored civil society advocacy that advances gender equality. Third, they examined the role of responsible media engagement in these critical issues.

Participants reviewed the current legal and policy landscape and identified important implementation gaps. They explored survivor-centred and accountable approaches to preventing and responding to gender-based violence and technology-facilitated gender-based violence.

Through collective reflection and group work, the consultation generated a shared call to action. Participants committed to advancing rights-based and gender-responsive systems across Nepal.
