UNFPA, Japan and Nepal Share New Findings to Strengthen Climate-Resilient Maternal Health

Kathmandu: UNFPA Nepal, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Population and the Embassy of Japan, has shared new findings from a policy analysis on climate and health linkages, along with a recent assessment of health facilities in Nepal. The discussion also introduced practical tools to help planners and health workers strengthen climate-resilient maternal healthcare across the country.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tamura Takahiro, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Japan, said he hopes the collaboration among Japan, Nepal and UNFPA will create strong synergies in improving maternal and newborn health.

With support from the Government of Japan, ten model climate-resilient maternal and newborn health facilities will be established. These centers will feature climate-adaptive infrastructure and trained health workers to ensure quality maternal care even during emergencies.
