Kathmandu: UNFPA Nepal, with the support of Norway Embassy, Australian Embassy, and the Family Welfare Division of Ministry of Health and Population, brought together government officials, health teams, provincial authorities, and partners for a national dissemination event on Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care.
The organization stated that in Nepal, nearly three out of four maternal deaths happen after a woman has already reached a health facility or while she’s being referred. That gap between arriving and receiving quality care is where lives are lost.
Through the EmONC Prioritization and Network Mapping initiative, UNFPA worked with the Government of Nepal in all seven provinces to map every single designated EmONC facility, assess its readiness, and identify where investment will have the most impact.
