UNFPA Nepal Marks World Population Day

Kathmandu: On the occasion of World Population Day, UNFPA Nepal hosted policymakers and more than 150 young people to discuss how Nepal UNFPA Nepal can respond to demographic change. Also, UNFPA Nepal launched UNFPA’s Demographic Futures Survey, capturing the views of nearly 109,000 young people across 73 countries. Findings show young people continue to aspire to relationships and family life. But economic uncertainty, housing shortages, and lack of decent work are holding them back.

UNFPA said Nepal is moving from a youth bulge toward an ageing society, while grappling with internal and international migration. To turn this demographic window of opportunity into real progress, policymakers and young people need to work together.
