Kathmandu: On the sidelines of the World Social Summit in Doha, Omar Abdi, Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF, met with Ambassador Md. Golam Sarwar, Secretary General of SAARC, to review ongoing collaboration and explore new avenues for partnership in advancing children’s welfare across South Asia.
Both leaders reaffirmed the strong and long-standing cooperation between SAARC and UNICEF, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts in child protection, nutrition, education, health, and climate resilience.
The discussion highlighted the need for a coordinated regional strategy to address common challenges affecting children, particularly amid global disruptions and socio-economic inequalities.
