US Ambassador Thompson Attends AmCham Nepal AGM

Kathmandu: US Ambassador to Nepal Dean R Thompson, accompanied by newly arrived Deputy Chief of Mission Scott Urbom, attended the 4th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Nepal.

The AGM marked the appointment of a new Chair and Board of Directors for the 2026–2027 term.

Addressing the meeting, Ambassador Thompson highlighted the strong partnership between the US Embassy in Nepal and AmCham Nepal in promoting trade, investment and a transparent and predictable business environment. He said the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Nepal Compact would create transformative opportunities for both US and Nepali companies.

The Ambassador also noted the continued entry of US firms into the Nepali market and outlined concrete steps Nepal could take to strengthen its investment climate and ensure greater policy certainty.

Referring to the protests held on September 8 and 9, Ambassador Thompson acknowledged their impact while underscoring the resilience of Nepal and the US business community. He reaffirmed continued support for stability and long-term economic growth in Nepal.
