U.S. Ambassador Thompson Meets PM Karki, Reaffirms Support for Nepal’s Development

Kathmandu: The U.S. Ambassador to Nepal, Dean R. Thompson, met with Prime Minister Sushila Karki at Singha Durbar on September 18.

During the meeting, Ambassador Thompson offered condolences for the lives lost in Nepal’s recent protests, while reaffirming support for Nepal’s peaceful, democratic path forward. He emphasised the United States’ commitment to supporting Nepal’s development aspirations.

“Today, I met Nepal’s Interim Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Sushila Karki. As I offered my condolences for the lives lost in the recent protests, I also reaffirmed the United States’ support for Nepal’s peaceful and democratic path forward,” the US ambassador shared on social media.

The embassy further stated that PM Karki and Ambassador Thompson discussed priorities for furthering trade, economic growth, disaster preparedness, and the MCC Compact’s commitment to Nepal’s most transformative infrastructure partnership to promote the interests and prosperity of both nations.
