Kathmandu: Chargé d’Affaires ( CDA) Scott Urbom of the US Embassy joined athletes, U.S. Government exchange alumni, and partners at the Para-Cycling Demonstration and Inauguration Event, organized by Bodhisattvas in Action (BIA), to celebrate the power of adaptive sports in creating opportunity, building confidence, and strengthening communities.
The event marked the arrival of 35 adaptive sports chairs and specialized equipment including tandem cycles, basketball wheelchairs, rugby chairs, hand cycles, and other adaptive sports equipment made possible through the leadership of U.S. exchange alumni and partners. This milestone expands opportunities for athletes with disabilities and strengthens Nepal’s adaptive sports ecosystem.
In his remarks, CDA Urbom highlighted the United States’ commitment to sports diplomacy, people-to-people partnerships, and empowering athletes with disabilities to pursue their dreams. CDA Urbom thanked the Government of Nepal for its support in facilitating the import of this life-changing equipment.
As Nepal prepares for future international para-sports competitions, including the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, the event demonstrated how collaboration, innovation, and shared commitment can help create greater opportunities for athletes with disabilities and build a brighter future for adaptive sports in Nepal.
