‘Ward Tourism Project’ in Beni Municipality

Myagadi: Beni Municipality has conducted ‘Ward Tourism Project’. In order to emphasize originality and innovation in tourism infrastructure, the project has been conducted by covering all 10 municipalities.

Mayor Surat KC said that he has adopted a policy of partnering with the municipality, state, federal government and the private sector to carry out projects in all wards. “Benibazar Mustang, located at the junction of Magdi and Kaligandaki rivers, is known as the gateway to Muktinath, a common pilgrimage site of Hindus and Buddhists”, he said, “We have emphasized on building infrastructure and promoting the purpose of extending the stay of tourists and pilgrims to and from Mustang in Benibazar and surrounding areas.”

In the last fiscal year, 8 lakh tourists visited Mustang through the Beni-Jomsom road. In the current financial year, the Municipality, which has established a 21-feet tall, 10-headed statue of Ravana, a character from the Hindu scripture Ramayana, by constructing a garden behind Ward No. 5 with the Federal Ministry of Tourism, has continued the Galeshwar market beautification project, Lovelyhill tourism infrastructure and Benima Shanti Park in the current financial year.

Through the Galeshwar market beautification scheme allocated Rs 30 lakh by the municipality, in partnership with the Galeshwar Shivalaya Area Development Fund, the laying of 1,718.5 cubic meters of slate stone and 30 meters long drain on two 95 meter long roads at a cost of Rs 48 lakh 74 thousand has reached its final stage.

According to the Municipality, the Lovely Hill Tourism Promotion and Shanti Park Construction Plan, which has a budget allocation of Rs. Deputy Chief Jyoti Lamichhane said that for the promotion of tourism in the municipality, a budget of Rs. 25 Lakh.

The work of constructing a footpath and installing street lights within the geography of Ward No. 8 of the cycle path built on the banks of the Kaligandaki river on the right side of Benibazar has reached its final stage. The 100-year-old Ganesha temple in Ward No. 8 has been reconstructed with a brass roof.

What kind of project in which ward?

Beni Municipality has selected and prioritized the plans of all 10 wards related to tourism. The long suspension bridge of Ward No. 1 Ratnechaur, Sri Lakshmihari temple and the footpath connecting Jamrukkot, Beldhunga through Toribari have been given priority.

Mayor KC said that discussions have been started with the private sector for a feasibility study to build a ‘lift bridge’ under public private partnership in Lakshmihill in Ward No. 2. A 38-feet tall statue of Govardhan has been installed under the leadership of the community in the reconstruction of Jamrukkot in this ward, on footpaths and Gauswara. This year, the municipality has allocated a budget of Rs 1.5 million for Goushwara tourism infrastructure.

Beldhunga of Bhakimli in Ward No. 3 has been developed as a scenic spot, tourism infrastructure has been prepared at Swargasram, a religious place, and a park has been constructed at Baghkhor. A proposal has been proposed to the Federal Ministry of Energy, Irrigation and Water Resources for the protection of the tank as well as the construction of a reservoir in ward no.

After Jagannath, Dholthan and Kevhill in Ward No. 5, Ramsheela Memorial Site and Cave Ram Mandir have been selected in Ward No. 6. In Barahpakho, which is located in Beni municipality-7 and 8, where Maharanithan, Laxminarayan, Shivalaya, Bhagwati, temple is located, the footpath construction plan has been given a go according to the ‘Round Beni, View Beni’ plan.

There is a plan to rebuild the Jaleshwar Cave in Ward No. 8 and establish the Shaalgram Museum and the Taksar Archaeological and Cultural Museum in Kot Bhandar area. For the purity of Kaligand, a cremation ground was built at the intersection of Myagdi and Kaligandaki river in Beni.

An integrated tourism plan covering Ward No. 9 from Galeshwardham to Pulashram, Ghatankot, Dholthan Darbar and Jagannath is under implementation. Priority has been given to Siddashram, Gharsunna, Radhakriti Temple, Wakhet Gharbas operation and tourism development plan of Todke in Ward No. 10 Patlekhet.

According to the concept of ‘prosperous tourist Beni city’, efforts are being made to make Beni a center of touristic, religious and spiritual tourism, said city chief KC. According to him, the feasibility of operating a steamer by constructing a ‘siltation dam’ in the Kaligandaki and Myagdi rivers in Beni is under study.
