WFP, Korea and Nepal Discuss Expanding Rice Fortification to Combat Malnutrition

Kathmandu: World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director in Nepal, Riaz Lodhi, met with Ram Prasad Ghimire, Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and Korean Ambassador Park Tae-Young to discuss strengthening partnerships for improved nutrition.

The meeting focused on the potential of rice fortification to address widespread micronutrient deficiencies in Nepal. Lodhi highlighted that fortified rice could be a “game changer” for improving the country’s food and nutrition security.

According to WFP Nepal, the collaboration between the Government of Nepal, the Republic of Korea and WFP aims to support national efforts toward achieving zero hunger.
