Who Nepal Hands Over Electronic Medical System to a Hospital in Gandaki Province

Kathmandu: WHO Nepal has officially handed over an Electronic Medical Recording (EMR) System to the G.P. Koirala National Center for Respiratory Diseases in Gandaki Province.

Developed on an open-source platform with WHO’s technical support, the system is aligned with the Ministry of Health and Population’s digital health strategy. It aims to reduce reliance on paper records, provide real-time access to medical data, improve clinical decision-making, strengthen disease surveillance, and enhance emergency preparedness.

The EMR will be rolled out in phases across all hospital departments and connected to national health databases. WHO Nepal will continue to support its full implementation. The initiative is backed by The Pandemic Fund.
