Kathmandu: A workshop titled “Workshop on Menopause: Breaking Silence, Building Support” was held in Kathmandu on March 13 to encourage open discussion on menopause, a topic often overlooked in Nepal.
Organised by the Australia Awards Nepal Women in Leadership Network, the event brought together more than 70 participants, including alumni and professionals, to share experiences and discuss support systems at home and in workplaces.
The programme was led by Neeti Aryal Khanal and Reejuta Sharma Dixit, with technical insights provided by Sanu Maiya Shrestha Pradhan, who highlighted the health impacts and management of menopause.
Ambassador of Australia to Nepal, Simon Ernst, addressed the event, stressing the importance of acknowledging menopause as a shared social and workplace issue.
Participants shared personal experiences and discussed ways to improve awareness, workplace policies, and support systems. Organisers said the workshop aimed to promote inclusive dialogue and strengthen understanding of menopause as an important health and gender issue.
