Kathmandu: Nepathya held and completed their concert in South Korea on September 25. The musical event for Nepalis living in South Korea turned into a celebration, in which the various Nepalese gathered with wide participation.
The concert started with ‘Koshiko Pani Yo Zindgani’. While promoting the music, the lead singer and band leader Amrit Gurung expressed his pain for the Nepali society, specifically those affected by the Bhotekoshi flash flood and were displaced because of the disaster.
“The recent floods in Bhotekoshi and Trishuli have left us with an irreparable wound,” Amrit said to the audience, “As we need to unite for immediate relief, please help the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund as much as possible.”
“I would have met Parijat (the late writer) once if I could have,” Sushma Ranahma Rai, an audience member, wrote on Facebook after returning from the concert.
“Nepathya is the most popular in the world of Nepali music,” wrote another viewer, Manoj Gurung, “after nine years, we got to see a unique performance again.”
Among the audience, there was also a group of people who were present wearing t-shirts designed by themselves. On the other hand, the separate hall containing many stalls of traditional Nepali food was also crowded.
“Korea, which has always given us warm love, gave us an even grander welcome this time,” singer Amrit said after the program was over, “we have taken it as more motivation.”
Local organizer Suresh Limbu said that he feels proud to be associated with such an important project that conveys the message of unity among Nepalis. “This concert has become a standard if both the quality and the audience participation are considered,” Limbu responded after the program, “The hardworking Nepalis of South Korea have returned from the concert with sweet memories during the Chusak festival.”
Korean people who were connected with the technical side of the concert also mentioned it as a special experience.”It was also important for us to be able to give such a successful concert together with such a professional Nepali team,” responded Lee Joo Yung of DS Mediatech, “We will be waiting to work with this team again.”
As always, Amrit was supported on stage by Dhruv Lama on the drumset, Suvin Shakya on the bass guitar, Neeraj Gurung on the guitar, Shanti Rayamazhi on the Madal and Dineshraj Regmi on the keyboard.
After the concert, the band returned home on September 26.
