Kathmandu: The Nepal Chamber of Commerce and South Korea’s Bridge International have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on expanding agribusiness and promoting the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) during a programme organised at the Chamber building in Jamal, Kathmandu.
During the programme, the Chairman of the Chamber’s Agriculture, Herbs, and Forest Committee, Krishnaman Shrestha, alongside the CEO of Bridge International, Jinseol Wang, signed the agreement.
The agreement includes provisions for both sides to exchange knowledge related to agriculture and entrepreneurship, conduct joint studies on Nepal’s market conditions and business potential, and strengthen cooperation. Bridge International has also mentioned providing technical support for Nepal’s innovation-based enterprises from the central to the local levels.
Furthermore, the agreement envisions organising exhibitions and promotional events for products developed by startups from Nepal and Korea, creating opportunities for business networking, and facilitating mentorship and skills exchange. Joint workshops, training programmes, and experience-sharing initiatives are also planned, with the expectation that entrepreneurs from both countries will benefit.
The two institutions also agreed to promote business through mutual visits of entrepreneurs and young innovators from both countries, explore new opportunities in each other’s markets, and develop potential areas of collaboration. In addition, the Nepal Chamber will collect data on youth who return to Nepal after acquiring skills in Korea and support them in enhancing their entrepreneurial capacity and business networking.
Prioritising agribusiness, herbs and forests, and SME development, the Chamber expressed confidence that this partnership will further strengthen Nepal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The agreement is expected not only to provide Nepali farmers, entrepreneurs, and innovators with opportunities to gain international exposure and skills but also to pave the way for sustainable economic cooperation between Nepal and Korea.
