Kathmandu: A new cohort of 22 JDS Fellows departed for Japan on August 11 to begin their academic journey at some of the country’s most prestigious universities. The group comprised 20 master’s degree students and 2 doctoral participants who have undergone extensive preparation to pursue advanced studies in fields vital to Nepal’s development.
Beyond their academic endeavors, the fellows are expected to serve as goodwill ambassadors, strengthening the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Nepal and Japan.
The Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) program was introduced in Nepal in 2016 and aims to enhance the professional capacity of government officials, enabling them to contribute more effectively to addressing Nepal’s development challenges.
