Kathmandu: Scott Urbom, Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy, joined officials from the Government of Nepal at the Department of Health Services in Teku to mark the handover of a refrigerated freezer van and a comprehensive package of maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) equipment valued at one million dollars.
The Embassy stated that the freezer van will strengthen Nepal’s national immunization program by safely transporting vaccines at -20°C from Nepal’s Central Vaccine Store to all seven provinces, helping ensure vaccines reach communities across the country.
The MNCH equipment will be distributed to provincial, district, and tertiary hospitals across the country, equipping frontline health workers with the critical tools they need to provide quality care and save the lives of mothers and newborns.
The contribution reflected the U.S. enduring partnership with Nepal and our shared commitment to building resilient, locally led health systems that improve health outcomes for the Nepalis – consistent with the America First Global Health Strategy.
