Kathmandu: Ken Shimizu, FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal, addressed the 75th International Veterinary Students’ Association (IVSA) Congress in Kathmandu. He delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the vital role of young veterinary professionals in tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges, including emerging and re-emerging animal diseases, antimicrobial resistance, climate change, and food security.
Highlighting the importance of the One Health approach, he encouraged participants to lead with science, innovation, collaboration, and compassion to build more resilient agrifood systems and healthier futures for people, animals, and the environment.
The 75th IVSA Congress brought together more than 100 delegates from over 70 countries, providing a unique platform for future veterinarians to exchange knowledge, strengthen global networks, and advance solutions for animal health, public health, and sustainable development.
