KATHMANDU — The Government of Nepal has issued an official statement expressing deep grief and strong condemnation following the death of a Nepali citizen in Saudi Arabia. The individual was killed by falling debris after Saudi air defense systems intercepted a drone targeting Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah oil field.
In an official statement released on X, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed its condolences to the family of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to all individuals injured during the incident.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a Nepali citizen in a debris falling from intercepted drone attacked at Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah Oil field,” the Ministry stated. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and wish for the speedy recovery of all those injured.”
Reiterating Nepal’s firm stance on international security and non-violence, the Ministry strongly condemned deliberate strikes against civilians and essential energy infrastructure.
“Nepal reiterates its unequivocal condemnation to all attacks targeted at civilians and critical infrastructures. Reaffirming our principled position, Nepal continues to call for the peaceful resolution of disputes including through dialogue, negotiation, and diplomatic engagement,” the statement added.
The incident occurred when Saudi air defenses neutralized an airborne threat aimed at the facility. The resulting falling debris struck a contractor vehicle outside the perimeter of the processing plant, causing fatal casualties among foreign workers stationed in the area.
The Government of Nepal is working closely through its diplomatic channels in Saudi Arabia to facilitate support for the victim’s family and ensure assistance for affected citizens, the Ministry said.
