Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal organized a ‘Tourism Promotion and Cultural Programme’ under the theme Nepal is calling: Your Neighbour, Your Next Destination on the sidelines of the 13th Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) being held in Dhaka from September 17 to September 19.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Ghanashyam Bhandari, Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh, highlighted tourism and people-to-people contacts as an important area of cooperation in Nepal-Bangladesh relations. Shedding light on the impact of the recent flash floods in Nepal, he underscored the resilience of Nepal’s tourism industry and encouraged Bangladeshi travellers to continue visiting Nepal as an expression of support and solidarity. Nepal’s tourism industry is recovering; Nepal is resilient; and Nepal is open, he stressed.
Pratik Karkim, Deputy Chief of Mission, made a presentation highlighting Nepal’s diverse tourism products, ranging from adventure, cultural and spiritual tourism to wellness and emerging potential such as medical tourism. He emphasised Nepal’s appeal not merely as a destination to visit, but as a place to experience, connect with, and create lasting memories.
Mohammed Hanif, President of Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), and Mohiuddin Helal, Chairman of Asian Tourism Fair, also spoke on the occasion. On behalf of the participating Nepali delegation, Pramod Dahal, spoke on Nepal’s efforts to revive tourism after the recent flash floods.
Nepali and Bangladeshi folk cultural performances were presented during the event. Additionally, a raffle draw was held, offering prizes including exclusive holiday packages sponsored by the participating tour and travel agencies of Nepal.
