Kathmandu: The Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) organized “Closing Ceremony & Research Dissemination Programme of the MoFA Summer Fellowship and Internship Program 2026” on August 12.
Delivering the welcome remarks, the Executive Director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs, Rojina Tamrakar, highlighted the objectives and significance ofthe programme, which provided young scholars and professionals with practical exposure to diplomacy and foreign policy while creating a bridge between academic research and policy practice. She underscored the need to develop those research findings to useful and actionable policy resources.
Addressing the programme as the Chief Guest, Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Shisir Khanal, appreciated the contributions of the Fellows and Interns. The Minister emphasized the importance of research, evidence-based analysis and informed public discourse in strengthening Nepal’s foreign policy. The Minister also encouraged young researchers to closely follow emerging international developments and contribute to Nepal’s diplomatic practice and policy formulation.
The MoFA Nepal Summer Internship 2026 was an eight-week voluntary policy research programme initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and hosted by the IFA from mid-June to mid August 2026. The programme brought together 10 Fellows and 10 Interns to undertake policy-oriented research across five thematic areas: Strategic Affairs and Public International Law, Development and Finance, Emerging Technologies, Clean Energy, and Nepali Diaspora.
The programme concluded with a research dissemination and exhibition session where Fellows and Interns presented their findings and recommendations on issues related to Nepal’s foreign policy, diplomacy and international relations, followed by an interactive session.
The Ceremony was attended by members of parliament, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of the United Kingdom, diplomats, representatives from various research and academic institutions, and development partners.
