Nepal-Afghanistan

Nepal and Afghanistan officially established diplomatic relations on July 1, 1961. Although neither country maintains an embassy in the other’s territory, Nepal manages its relations with Afghanistan through its embassy in New Delhi.

The two countries have maintained long-standing ties, including historical military connections dating back to the 19th century when Nepali Gurkha soldiers participated in campaigns in Afghanistan. Both nations are members of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and have engaged in political consultations and cooperation within this framework.
