Nepal and Serbia established diplomatic relations on October 7, 1959, building on their shared engagement in the Non-Aligned Movement.
Since then, ties have remained friendly though relatively low-profile, with both countries maintaining non-resident diplomatic representation, Serbia covers Nepal through its embassy in New Delhi and also operates an Honorary Consulate in Kathmandu, while Nepal accredits its relations with Serbia via a non-resident mission.
While both countries’ bilateral trade is currently modest, with limited trade, both nations are keen on expanding it across sectors like trade, investment, tourism, and education. Multilaterally, the two countries continue to support each other in the United Nations and other forums, with Serbia appreciating Nepal’s stance on respecting states’ territorial integrity. Overall, relations are cordial and longstanding, with potential for growth in economic and people-to-people exchanges.
