Kathmandu: H.E. Md. Golam Sarwar, the Secretary General of SAARC, visited the SAARC Energy Centre (SEC) in Islamabad.
During the visit, Abdul Rasheed Jokhio, Director, SEC briefed the Secretary General and his delegation on the Centre’s current programs, and upcoming initiatives designed to address South Asia’s prevailing energy challenges. During the interaction, the Secretary General shared his perspective on regional cooperation, emphasizing that energy collaboration is a critical driver for sustainable economic growth and integration across South Asia. He reiterated the SAARC Secretariat’s full commitment to supporting the Centre’s future action plans, technology transfer initiatives, and capacity-building programs.
On July 15, Secretary General Sarwar, along with SAARC Secretariat officials, visited the SAARC Arbitration Council (SARCO) in Islamabad.
During the visit, Choining Dorji, Director General, SARCO presented a comprehensive overview of the Council’s ongoing programs, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, and future strategies aimed at strengthening South Asia’s investment dispute resolution landscape. Underscoring the importance of regional cooperation, the Secretary General emphasized that a resilient arbitration ecosystem serves as a cornerstone for economic growth and intra-regional trade. He reaffirmed the SAARC Secretariat’s commitment to advancing the Council’s capacity-building and institutional goals.
