UN General Assembly Adopts Tajikistan-led Resolution Proclaiming 2027–2036 as the International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations

Kathmandu: The United Nations General Assembly on June 25 adopted a resolution entitled “International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations”, an initiative introduced by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.    

The initiative was put forward by the Republic of Tajikistan and is contained in UN document A/80/L.54.

The resolution promotes a global culture of peace by encouraging dialogue, reconciliation, intergenerational solidarity, and international cooperation. It calls upon Member States, the UN system, civil society, and other stakeholders to work together to build a more peaceful future for coming generations.

India supported this landmark initiative, reaffirming its longstanding commitment to multilateralism, the principles of the United Nations, and the promotion of peace and international cooperation. India’s support reflects the shared vision of fostering peace and stability for future generations.
