Jhapa: A total of 6,791 tourists from third countries entered Nepal through the eastern border point at Kakarbhitta in Jhapa District during the first eight months of the current fiscal year.
According to Tulsi Bhattarai, Chief of the Immigration Office Kakarbhitta, visitors from countries including the United States, United Kingdom, and Bhutan entered Nepal through the border point during the review period.
However, the number of tourist arrivals through the checkpoint has declined compared to the previous fiscal year, when 8,723 tourists from third countries entered Nepal via the same route.
The office also reported that 6,552 tourists completed immigration procedures and exited Nepal through the Kakarbhitta border.
In addition, more than 3,000 Nepalis who had been abroad for studies and other purposes returned home through the eastern border point during the same period.
