Ambassador Thapa Speaks at UN DPPA Annual Donor Meeting

Kathmandu: The UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) held their annual Donor Meeting on June 16. In the meeting, Ambassador Lok Bahadur Thapa, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN, reaffirmed Nepal’s strong support for preventive diplomacy, mediation and sustaining peace. He emphasized that early investment in prevention and mediation is far more effective and less costly than responding to conflict after it erupts.

Ambassador Thapa underlined the need for sustained, predictable, and flexible funding for DPPA, including through the Multi-Year Appeal (MYA), to enable the Department to respond rapidly, deploy its mediation expertise, support nationally owned political processes and help turn fragile moments into sustainable peace and inclusive development.
