Ambassador Thapa Welcomes Newly Appointed PR Hajiyev of Turkmenistan

Kathmandu: The Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN, Lok Bahadur Thapa, welcomed the newly appointed Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN, Vepa Hajiyev. They discussed issues of shared interest to developing countries, particularly Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and underscored the important role of ECOSOC in promoting inclusive and sustainable development.

The meeting also focused on the effective implementation of the Awaza Programme of Action and the need for stronger international support to address the structural constraints confronting LLDCs, including connectivity, trade, transit, infrastructure, energy, and climate change-related challenges.

The two ambassadors reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Nepal–Turkmenistan bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation in multilateral forums, particularly in the areas of sustainable infrastructure, energy, climate action, digitization, youth entrepreneurship and other fields of mutual interest.
