Kathmandu: Australian Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Simon Ernst, hosted a special event to honour Australian Everest summiteers who successfully climbed Mount Everest in 2026, with several setting new records along the way.
Summiting the world’s highest peak is a remarkable achievement in itself, but this year at least six Australians reached the top of Everest, each driven by a unique purpose beyond mountaineering.
The climbers undertook the challenge to raise awareness for important causes, break stereotypes and inspire others to embrace challenges in their own lives. Their achievements were celebrated as examples of resilience, determination and courage.
Speaking at the gathering, Ambassador Ernst praised the summiteers for showcasing the adventurous spirit of Australians and strengthening the long-standing people-to-people ties between Australia and Nepal.
