Kathmandu: The Bangla New Year 1433 was celebrated with a vibrant cultural programme on 17 April, bringing together members of the diplomatic community, government officials, and the Bangladeshi diaspora. The event was attended by ambassadors and heads of missions, diplomats from different countries, Nepali government officials, business representatives, and members of the Bangladesh community. Ambassadors from seven countries were present on the occasion.

The Secretary General of SAARC, Golan Sawar, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour. The celebration featured a cultural programme highlighting Bangla New Year songs alongside Nepali musical performances. Nepali artists and members of the Bangladeshi community jointly performed, adding a festive and cross-cultural dimension to the event.
Guests were served traditional Bangladeshi New Year delicacies, including Panta-ilish, various types of pitha, and snacks. The celebration later concluded with a full-fledged dinner featuring Bangladeshi cuisine. The event was widely appreciated by the participants for its warm hospitality and cultural richness.
The programme created a festive environment of regional New Year celebrations, with participation from diplomats representing Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. Ambassadors of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as well as diplomats from the United States, were also present at the event.
