Kathmandu: Shafiqur Rahman, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, inaugurated the 2nd South Asia Trade Fair 2026 gracing the event as the Guest of Honor on May 7. The event is inaugurated in presence of Government officials of Nepal, diplomates, renowned businessmen, media and most importantly tens of thousands of enthusiastic Nepali visitors. In addition to the senior officials from the Nepali government and leading chamber bodies, Sri Lankan Amb to Nepal also joined the inaugural.
Kathmandu is hosting the 2nd edition of South Asia Trade Fair 2026 from 07–11 May 2026 at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall, bringing together over 120 exhibitors from South Asia, including Bangladesh.
The fair is being organized by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and ‘Introduction Trade Shows Nepal’ and participation of Bangladesh is being facilitated jointly by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh and Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu. The five-day event runs daily from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm with free public entry.
Key highlights of the Fair include international pavilions, a startup entrepreneurs’ pavilion, investor meet-ups, B2B meeting and People-to-People contacts.
The 24 Bangladeshi exhibitors are showcasing a diverse range of products such as ready-made garments, leather goods, jute products, handicrafts, and apparels, reflecting Bangladesh’s growing export strength globally. Bangladeshi products will also showcase the tradition and cultural heritage of Bangladesh through its age-old handicrafts, jute, garments and other products.
It is expected that thousands of interested customers/buyers from South Asian region and beyond will visit Bangladesh Pavilion. The businessmen from Bangladesh are expected to also join a networking dinner, a business to business (B2B) meetings and exploring market studies during their stay in Kathmandu. Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu is doing necessary coordination and facilitating the smooth functioning of fair activities/ programmes of Bangladeshi business delegates.
