BDS Nepal, and Recovering Nepal Provides a Three-day Training for Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST)

Kathmandu: As part of UNDP’s Global Fund programme, BDS Nepal, and Recovering Nepal provided a three-day training for Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) service providers from all seven provinces, strengthening their capacity to support the mental health needs of people living with HIV and other key populations. Through practical sessions on mental health screening, counselling, referrals, and crisis response, participants enhanced their ability to deliver care that is accessible, rights-based, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of those most at risk.

Speaking at the event, UNDP Deputy Representative Julien Chevillard underscored the importance of addressing stigma and discrimination that continue to prevent many people from accessing essential services. He reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to advancing inclusive systems that ensure everyone can access the care and support they need. By stengthening frontline services and fostering a more supportive environment, this initiative is helping improve health outcomes and uphold the promise to leave no one behind.
