Kathmandu: The China National Tourist Office in Kathmandu organized a seminar on September 21 to discuss post-disaster recovery, crisis communication and the future development of Nepal’s tourism industry following the disaster.
The seminar brought together experts, scholars and representatives from the Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management, Nepal Tourist Guides Association, Nepal Chinese Tour Guides Association, travel agencies and media organizations.
Journalists and tourism professionals who had worked on the front lines in disaster-affected areas, as well as individuals with first-hand experience of rescue and relief operations, also participated in the discussions.
Participants exchanged views on the disaster’s impact on Nepal’s tourism industry, coordination of rescue operations and information, recovery and revitalization of the tourism market, and opportunities to strengthen tourism cooperation between Nepal and China.
The discussions also focused on ways to improve the tourism sector’s preparedness and resilience in the face of natural disasters while maintaining Nepal’s appeal as a destination for international visitors.
The seminar aimed to mobilize joint efforts to promote Nepal-China tourism cooperation and explore measures to build a safer, more attractive and more resilient tourism industry in Nepal.
