Kathmandu: : H.E. Zhang Maoming, Ambassador of China to Nepal, along with a 7-member team reached Lomanthang of upper Mustang via the Korala border point on October 3.
Chief district officer in Mustang, Ajita Sharma, said, “The Chinese Ambassador has arrived in Mustang, but there is no detailed information on his visit.” The Chinese ambassador reached Lomanthang in a three-day visit. There are five Chinese in the team. They are scheduled to leave for China via the Korala check point on October 4.
According to chairman of Lomanthang Rural Municipality, Tashinarbu Gurung, the Chinese ambassador Maoming reached there to study the condition of Korala border point.
Ambassador Zhang’s visit to Mustang and Korala border point is taken meaningfully in light of the demand for easier trans-border trade, which is disrupted largely by the recent Bhotekoshi floods in Rasuwa.
Following the closure of Rasuwa and Tatopani border points, the Mustang Customs Office has been collecting Rs 300 million daily in revenue.
