Chinese Ambassador Zhang Meets National Assembly Chairman Dahal

Kathmandu: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming paid a courtesy call on Chairman of the National Assembly of Nepal, Narayan Prasad Dahal, at Singha Durbar on March 16.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed Nepal–China relations, parliamentary cooperation, mutual assistance and other contemporary issues.

Chairman Dahal noted that relations between Nepal and China are long-standing and strong, not only at the diplomatic level but also through people-to-people ties. Referring to Nepal’s House of Representatives election held on March 4, Dahal said a new government is currently being formed and expressed appreciation for the support extended by the Chinese government during the challenging period following the Gen-Z movement, according to his secretariat.

On the occasion, Ambassador Zhang said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Nepal have maintained friendly ties based on mutual benefit. He added that exchanges of visits between the leaders of the two countries have further strengthened cooperation and assistance, taking bilateral relations to new heights.

The meeting was attended by Tul Bahadur Kandel, Secretary of the National Assembly, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal, the Federal Parliament Secretariat Nepal, and representatives from the Embassy of China in Nepal.
