Connecting Tourism with Agriculture through ‘Ropai Mahotsav’

Kathmandu: ‘Planting’ festival has been organized with the aim of strengthening the country’s economy by linking tourism with agriculture.

Village Tourism Promotion Forum (Vitof) Nepal, which has been active in promoting tourism in the rural areas of the country for three decades, organized a planting festival in Tripurasundari rural municipality-7 Sukkoura branch of Dhading.

Harisharan Thapaliya, President of Vitof Nepal, said that the festival was organized with the main slogan of ‘Primary basis of a prosperous Nepal: tourism and agriculture are the foundations of the Nepalese economy’. He expressed his belief that the Ropai Mahotsav organized with the aim of protecting and promoting local culture, tradition, agriculture and rural tourism will make a special contribution to the rural economy.

Tripurasundari rural municipality chairman Raju Upreti said that such festivals will help to make tourism and agriculture the backbone of the Nepalese economy. Devraj Dharel, the vice chairman of the rural municipality, said that the local level has recently made policies and programs with tourism as the main priority.

Vitof Founder General Secretary Shambhu Pathak said that such programs related to tourism will add bricks to rural development and urged everyone to dedicate themselves to the tourism campaign.

Alok Prasain, chief advisor of Vitof, advisor Deepak Dahal, Nirmala Dhamala, former president of Tourism Women’s Network, Bodhraj Bhandari, former chairman of Vitof and Shiv Lamichhane participated in the festival. It is expected that the festival will help in the promotion of local tourism and agriculture.
