Kathmandu: UNDP Nepal, in collaboration with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and the Center for Applied Research and Development (IoE), organized a technical consultation to support the global Early Warnings for All (EW4ALL) initiative.
The meeting focused on Pillar 2 of the initiative, which deals with detecting and forecasting natural hazards. Stakeholders discussed existing gaps, identified needs, and outlined clear actions to improve Nepal’s early warning systems. This includes defining outputs, assigning responsibilities, and setting timelines as part of Nepal’s EW4ALL roadmap.
DHM leads Pillar 2 in Nepal, with WMO as the global lead agency and UNDP as co-lead in implementation support.
This joint effort aims to enhance disaster preparedness and better protect communities across the country.
