DPR Magar Speaks at Seville Commitment and Special High-Level Meeting with Bretton Woods Institutions

Kathmandu: Gyan Bahadur Magar, Deputy Permanent Representative of Nepal in the United Nations in New York, spoke at the Seville Commitment and Special High-Level Meeting with Bretton Woods Institutions during the 2026 ECOSOC FfD Forum on behalf of the LDCs Group. He stressed that the LDCs are facing a challenging development landscape marked by narrowing fiscal space, high borrowing costs, declining ODA, and weakening investment flows.

DPR Magar emphasized the LDC Group’s call for more effective and inclusive sovereign debt architecture with enhanced access to concessional and climate finance; delivery on ODA/GNI target for LDCs and capacity-building support in tax administration and public financial management; mobilizing private investment in productive sectors at scale; reforming global financial architecture including WB, IMF to ensure LDCs’ voice and participation; and stronger coherence between the UN system and Bretton Woods Institutions while strengthening UN development mandate.
